If I build the light box longer (for a roll of slides) questions it will work the same? Tapped on this   How-To: Turn Slides and Negatives Into Digital Photos   It said HTTP Status: 404 (not found)   So the secret is to get light to shine through the slide, right?

The trick is to get the film as flat as possible and then shine light through it. I posted the link to give you an idea, if you look around the internet there are tons of different ideas, some rather elaborate and some very basic. A lot depends on how high a quality you are looking for. The reason you need flat is that the depth of field in the optics of a scanner is very shallow so any scanned item that is not perfectly flat will have some distortion.
