Hi @ISD6296,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that you're encountering lines on your scanned documents and experiencing issues with unwanted coding or marks during printing, I would request you to follow the below steps.

Scanning Issue: Lines Across Documents

  • Clean the Scanner Glass:
  • Dust particles can cause vertical lines on scanned documents.
  • Open the scanner and clean the glass plate carefully with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Recalibrate the Scanner:

  • In some cases, miscalibration can lead to lines appearing on scans.
  • Check your scanner’s manual for calibration options and recalibrate if possible.

Remove the Glass Plate:

  • Check for any dust or particles underneath the glass plate.

Printing Issues:

Driver Update:

  • Ensure that your printer driver is up-to-date. An outdated driver can cause various printing issues, including erroneous coding on the printouts.

Check Print Settings:

  • Review the print settings to ensure no unnecessary options (e.g. print headers/footers) are enabled, which may cause unwanted coding.

Print Diagnostics:

  • Utilize HP’s Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility provides diagnostics and resolution steps for common printing and scanning issues. It might identify errors not immediately apparent and can automatically fix some issues.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
