Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended
HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is what I am experiencing with my HP Officejet Pro 8610 and my HP Officejet Pro 8620 printers:
Test#1: Using the (EWS) embedded web service with Microsoft Edge to scan from the (ADF) automatic document feeder produces "BLANK" pages.
Test#2: Using the (EWS) embedded web service with Microsoft Edge to scan from the (Printer Glass) produces the expected "SCAN" results.
Test#3: Using the (Printer's Scan Screen) to scan from the (ADF) automatic document feeder produces the "expected" scan results.
Test#4: Using the (EWS) embedded web service with any other browser (eg Chrome, Firefox) produces the desired results, regardless of whether I scan from the ADF or the glass plate.

The drivers are not the problem because ALL ELSE works fine and I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the printers and drivers. The problem seems to be with Edge only, however, I cannot find a fix for it. I've even tried repairing and updating Microsoft Edge to no avail.
Repeat: The main problem: Scan from ADF using EWS produces blank pages "only with Microsoft Edge"
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @jackco

Thank you for responding.

Since the ADF scans correctly from the printer's own control panel and through EWS in Chrome/Firefox, while only Microsoft Edge produces blank pages when using the EWS ADF scan, this does not appear to be a printer, ADF, or driver problem.

It appears to be an Edge compatibility issue with the older EWS scanning interface used by the OfficeJet Pro 8610/8620. Since you've already repaired/updated Edge and confirmed the same behavior, I would recommend continuing to use Chrome or Firefox for EWS ADF scanning as a workaround. The fact that glass scanning works in Edge while ADF scanning does not further supports that the problem is specific to how Edge handles the EWS ADF scan function.

If you want to pursue an actual Edge fix, the issue would need to be investigated by Microsoft.

Have a good day.

Hi @jackco

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that the printer hardware and HP scanner drivers appear to be functioning correctly. The ADF produces the expected results when scanning directly from the printer and when using the EWS through Chrome or Firefox. Since the issue occurs only when Microsoft Edge is used to access the EWS and only with ADF scanning, this appears to be specific to the interaction between Microsoft Edge and the printer's EWS rather than a printer or driver failure. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Test Edge InPrivate mode

This is one of the most useful tests because it eliminates much of Edge's stored browsing data.

  • Open Microsoft Edge.
  • Press: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • An InPrivate window should open.

Enter the printer's IP address, for example:

http://192.168.1.25

  • Open the EWS.
  • Select Scan.
  • Place a document containing clearly visible text/images in the ADF.
  • Start the scan.
  • Check whether the resulting pages are still blank.

Microsoft confirms that Edge InPrivate does not retain normal browsing history, cookies and site data after the InPrivate windows are closed.

Clear Edge's cached data

  • Microsoft recommends clearing browsing data through:
  • Edge → Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data → Choose what to clear.
  • For this particular test, I would do the following:
  • Open Edge.
  • Press: Ctrl + Shift + Delete
  • Set Time range to:
  • All time
  • Select:
    • Browsing history
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files
  • If you don't want to lose saved passwords, do not select Passwords.
  • Click Clear now.
  • Completely close Edge.
  • Reopen Edge.
  • Enter the printer's IP address again.
  • Test an ADF scan.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thanks for you reply. I will try your suggestion (scan with Edge in Private mode) as soon as i get a chance and let you know the result. I've already tried clearing all the cache and cookies severals times but it did not help.

Hi @jackco

Thank you for confirming that you’ve already cleared the cache and cookies multiple times. Please proceed with testing the scan in Edge using Private mode as suggested, and let us know the outcome. This will help us determine if the issue is browser‑related or requires further troubleshooting.”

Per your suggestion, I've followed all your steps. And I have tested the scan in Edge using Private mode as suggested. However, I'm still getting blank pages when Edge scans using the ADF feeder. Thanks for all your help.

I kinda suspected that it was a fault of Microsoft Edge. Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
