Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

ENVY 6230
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have installed my printer/scanner today and printing is working but scanning doesn't.

I installed the complete SW package including drivers from https://support.hp.com/se-sv/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-photo-6200-all-in-one-printer-series/907304...

If I try to scan a document the printer tells me to download 'scanner SW'.

I though that it would be included in the complete SW package for my printer.

Hope someone can help

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Did you try using the HP Scan and Capture app to scan?  HP Scan and Capture is a simple application that captures photos or documents from an HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera.  These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared with other applications as well.

Install HP Scan and Capture

Click here to download and know more about the app.

If you need to Scan from the printer screen, a Full-featured HP Driver needs to be installed on the PC.

Kindly follow these steps:

If you have already installed the Full-featured drivers, Enabling Scan to Computer option in HP Printer assistant may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:

Step 1: Enable Scan to Computer

Search Windows for HP > HP OfficeJet 3831 > double click to open the HP Printer assistant > Click on Scan

Click on Manage scan to computer >

Click on Enable > Check the box at the bottom > Close

Step 2: Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver (If not installed)

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know how this goes.

Hi Kumar,

Thanks for good tips 🙂
I did not try the HP Scan app, but I got it to work just an hour ago.
What I did was to set my IP address for my printer to static (don't know if that had any impact, but it's one step I did).
Then I 're-installed' my printer by searching for ENVY in Windows search facility and choosing to run HP ENVY Photo series App.

When I installed that way suddenly everything works fine.
