@Pjhtjh, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Scan Interruptions and Busy Line Error on HP Officejet!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you experience interruptions in scanning and receive a "line is busy" error, here are steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Check Original Placement:

  • Make sure the original document to be scanned is correctly placed face down on the scanner glass or face up in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

Check Memory:

  • There might not be enough available memory to hold the document you want to scan. Try using the Prescan function to see if it works. Lowering the scan resolution rate can also help.

Check USB Connection:

  • Ensure that the USB cable is properly connected. If the USB cable is defective, switch it with a known good cable or replace it if necessary.

Verify Scanner Configuration:

  • Check that the scanner is configured correctly. Verify scan settings in the HP software configuration or the application you are using to ensure the scanner job is being directed to the correct port.

Inspect for Conflicting Tasks:

  • There may be a copying or printing job in progress. Wait until the current job is completed before trying to scan again.

Restart Computer:

  • Restart your computer to reset any temporary issues that might be causing the "line busy" error.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
