Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I cannot scan through HP Smart, when I click on the SCAN tile and try to login I am taken to a blacnk page where the only thing I can do is close the page. If I try to scan from the printer it says that the scanner is already in use and to wait till that task is done.

I have recently moved to a PC and had no probems scanning to mac.
I have downloaded the software and tried the Scan Doctor, all to exactly the same non response.

This is making me want to cry. HELP.

@NGBSTAR, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

  • Are you able to make photocopies on the printer?
  • What happens when you print from the computer?
  • Is there any antivirus software installed on your computer?

Meanwhile, refer to the document How to scan with an HP printer for alternate scanning options.

Hi,

thanks for your reply. 
1) I didn’t even know you could make photocopies and so have never done tried

2) printing is fine

3) antivirus software - I don’t know, probably.
