The only way I can use the scanner function of my HP LaserJet Pro MFP 125nw is through the application HP Smart. I cannot get Image Capture, v. 8.0 (1106), or HP Easy Scan, v. 1.9.3 (002), to connect to the printer-scanner. I have tried connecting Image Capture and Easy Scan by both USB and wifi. Neither application can find the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 125nw.
The HP LaserJet Pro MFP 125nw is in the Printer & Scanner preference.
I am using a MacBook Air running 12.6.4.
The MacBook Air has Antivirus One. I do not know if I can turn it off.
The HP website says that the printer driver is up to date.
Does anyone have any guess as to why the Image Capture and HP Easy Scan do not scan?

Hi @RGilpin,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
There are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer. You can check this by printing a network configuration page from your printer and verifying the network settings.
- Check that your printer is turned on and has paper and toner/ink.
- Restart your printer, computer, and router.
- Update the printer driver software. You can download the latest driver software from the HP website.
- Try resetting the printing system on your Mac. To do this, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click on the printer, and select "Reset printing system."
- Try resetting the network settings on your printer. You can do this by going to the printer's control panel and selecting "Restore Network Defaults" or "Reset Network Settings."
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
