HP DeskJet 2620 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Deskjet 2620 is ON, I can print, I can copy, but when I want to scan HP smart says that "scanning is not available" because the printer is supposedly offline. Everything I have done (turning the deskjet OFF and ON, printing and copying and then scanning, restarting the pc), nothing helps. Sometimes it spontaniously starts working again, but this remaines a recurring problem. And now it doen't work while I HAVE to scan some papers for work. HP smart keeps looking and looking for the deskjet but it can't find it, while it is solidly connected by cable (HP smart seems not as smart as the name suggests).

Adjacent problem: I have connected the deskjet both by cable as by wifi. I want to work on it only by cable but I can't get rid of the wifi connection, not even when I newly install the deskjet. Possibly the previously mentioned  problem is caused by this wifi issue, I don't know.

What I do know is that this scanning issue costs me too much time every time is accures. How can I solve this ? I could realy use some help with both the scanning and the wifi problem.

PS: I am using Windows Home.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow the steps from the link: Click here

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP DeskJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer-related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
