I just bought a HP 250 all-in-one.  The vertical document feeder works for printing, and the horizontal document feeder works for scanning, but when I load a document in the vertical document feeder to scan, I get a message "the scan failed".   The printer detects the paper, but doesn't pick it up to scan it (the printer says "preparing scanning" but then just says "the scan failed."  I need to use the vertical document feeder because I want to scan several pages at a time. Please advise.  Is the printer broken such that I need to return it?

I'd like to help!

 

I understand you are trying to scan using the document feeder.

 

There is only one document feeder, I'd like to inform you that copy and scan can be performed only this feeder

 

 

You may refer to the user guide to know how to copy and scan using the feeder-http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05203661.pdf
