HP ENVY 7900e scanning not working correctly. First page does fine but additional pages only scan 1/2 a page or a partial page that is enlarged or splits the page vertically on 2 pages. Should I reload the driver? I purchased some months ago but just got around to installing this new one and the ink cartridges have dried up so I'm waiting for the new ones to be shipped. Thought I could scan the documents to print later since I can't just print them..

Hi @Sandy-H,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like there might be an issue with the scanning settings or the driver for your HP ENVY 7900e. Before reloading the driver, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the scanning problem:

Check Scanning Settings: Make sure your scanning settings are configured correctly. Check if there are any options for page size, resolution, or other settings that might affect the scanning process. Adjust them as needed.

Clean Scanner Glass: Dust or smudges on the scanner glass can sometimes cause scanning issues. Clean the scanner glass thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.

Update Driver: Before reinstalling the driver, check if there is an updated driver available on the HP website. Download and install the latest driver to ensure compatibility with your operating system.

Restart Scanner and Computer: Sometimes, simply restarting the scanner and your computer can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off the scanner, unplug it, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Restart your computer as well.

Change the scan setting: Change the settings in the scan software to help improve the scan quality of your document or photo.

NOTE: Available settings vary by printer model, scan software, and when scanning a document or a photo. For example, the PDF settings are only available for document scans.
Make sure the original document or photo is in good condition and free of tears, creases, folds, staples, or tape.

Place the original on the scanner glass or into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

CAUTION: The ADF mechanism can damage photos. To copy or scan photos, use an alternate method, such as the scanner glass or your mobile device camera with the HP Smart app.
Open the scan software, and then find the scanner settings.

Change any of the following settings before scanning, if available.

Select the appropriate scan type: Make sure your scan type matches the object you are scanning for optimal quality.

Select either the color or greyscale scan option: If the original item is in color or greyscale, choosing to scan it in black and white can significantly degrade scan quality.

Increase the scan resolution: Increasing the resolution improves the scan quality, but it also increases scanning time and file size. A standard resolution of 300 dpi is acceptable for most text-based documents, while 600 dpi or higher is better for detailed photo scans.

Choose the appropriate file type: The file extension you choose can affect the final scan quality. For most scan jobs, PDF, JPEG, GIF, and PNG are acceptable file types.

Do not compress or reduce the file size: Compressing your scanned files produces smaller file sizes at a cost of lower image quality

Scan the document or photo.

A preview of the scan displays in the software.

On the preview screen, make any final scan adjustments, and then save the scan.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
