Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

So HP has started this stupid requirement to sign in before you can scan. It then helps by logging you out a few times a month so you need to go find your login credentials and go through that bother again.

Today however, it won't get as far as login in, giving "We can't connect to the service you need right now. Check your network connection or try this again later".

It's fine HP, I won't scan now, I'll sit around waiting for you service to be available just so I can scan on my own scanner.

Actually, no perhaps I'll buy something else.Untitled.jpgUntitled2.jpg

@FlipZam

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, this seems like internet connectivity issue , to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you checked the Internet connectivity?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps: prepare your printer for a wireless connection, restart the printer, computer, and router.

  1. Turn the printer off, and then wait 10 seconds.

  2. Disconnect the printer power cord from the printer.

  3. Turn off the computer or the device you are trying to print from.

  4. Connect the printer power cord to the printer, and then turn on the printer.

  5. Disconnect the power cord from your wireless router, and then wait 10 seconds.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the router. Wait until Internet service is restored. Internet service is interrupted while the router is off.

  7. Turn on the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

You can always download the full install package which then enables local scanning and will require no login

This happened to me as well when I downloaded the full feature package the exact same thing happened just a different screen it's simply said unable to find my network. I know it's not an internet problem I did a speed test right after and it had a download of 227mbps upload of 8 mbps

Many thanks Repairtrooper for your efforts. The HP link directs me to the HP Smart app page on the Microsoft store, and when I click "Get", I get a "try that again, Page could not be loaded. Please try again later" error....

After some trouble shooting about the error message, I got the HP Smart store page to load and got the driver - but it still is asking me to log in. Luckily the log in is actually working today, but needing to log in just to be able to scan is really irritating.
