i have a crome book and an hp printer envy 5055. its cinnected with a USB cable. im trying to scan some documents. everytme i click the scan option i says "visit 123.hp.com to get the HP smart app or other HP scanning software for your compter" i dont know what to do

Hi,
Scanning to a Chromebook can only be done through the network using the Webscan feature, only printing is supported using USB connection:

Thank you for stating that. It is the first time that I have encountered that limitation stated clearly, after much searching.
It SHOULD be stated in any and all documentarion related to connecting a Chromebook via USB.
At least that gets me back to my original problem, not being able to connect the printer to the network.
