Hello everyone,
I've been trying to use the very useful-looking scan direct to Google Drive feature on my M477fdw. I've got it all connected and from the printer I can see a list of files that I have on my Google Drive, so I know the basic connection is OK. When I try to scan and upload, the scan begins then immediately hangs. After a couple of minutes it gives me an error message saying the scan was not successful. Furthermore, it seems to crash the printer's web server so I can no longer connect to it. It requires a power cycle to get it working again.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? This feature is one of the reasons I bought this particular printer and I really would like to get it working.
I'm on the latest firmware.
Thank you.

Another reply to myself. Sadly, HP don't seem remotely interested in making this work, but I have kludged together something that does. It involves a Linux VM that I happened to have, and a rather good google drive client called insync. It also involves a Samba share that the printer prints to like any other network folder. This works very well and now I can scan something and have it go straight into my google drive, albeit via a somewhat roundabout route. Not elegant, but it works. It beggars belief that HP can't fix this properly. Other than this I really like my M477fdw.

Hi,
Google Drive is YOURS, not your printer. You can access to it but your printer can't until you have to set this up properly. Please use the following instructions:

OK, this isn't looking good http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/HP-Connected-Mobile-Printing-and-Cloud-Printing/Scan-to-google-docs-doe...
I have spent some hours googling and trying to fix this problem, and the functionality seems to have been broken for years, with HP blaming Google.
Does anyone at all have scan to google drive working?

I have abandoned hope of being able to scan direct to Google Drive. However, I also use Onenote/Onedrive and that has an upload-via-email facility. That works very well and means I have achieved my goal of being able to scan something and have the file go direct into 'the cloud'. I'm mentioning this here in case it helps anyone else trying to get this working.

I have just purchased an M477fdw and the unique selling point I was seeking was scanning to Google Drive in order to digitize my workflow.
I have successfully configured the app at google.com/device per the instructions.
The App clearly connects with the configured credentials because I can list and access folders in my Google Drive account. However, when I try to scan it fails.
First I just accepted all scan defaults and it failed.
I then manually created in Google Drive the "Scanned_from_HP" folder which it wishes to use by default.
Regardless, no success.
I will continue to post about this seemingly neglected problem until HP assign a competent person to resolve this problem.

I am also having the same issue mentioned here. I have been a technology leader for over 30 years and have installed HP printer products for as long as they have been selling them. I am also a google partner with a great deal of experience with product integration. The scan to drive app fails exactly as explained here even when configured properly. It also crashes the web server in the printer as described here. This is a big deal and deserves some real attention from HP or they should remove this app if they can't make it work. Definitely a case of selling a feature to the public before you have it working properly. Unfortunately this is not the first time I have seen this from HP and several other technology vendors.
What I really need to know is will this feature work in the very near future or should I start recommending another product that can actually work with google drive?

Hi there,
I just wanted to know if there's any update on this issue... I just bought a Laserjet MFP M227 and I'm having exactly the same issue when trying to scan to Google Drive or Dropbox. The connection to Google Drive is properly setup, I can see my files on the printer touch screen but when I start scanning a document it doesn't work at all... I can't believe that HP hasn't fixed this problem yet!
