Scan size is restricted as explained in the Specifications.

Printer Specifications for HP DeskJet 1110, 2130 Printers

The scanning specifications are for HP Deskjet 2130, 2132, 2134, 2136, Deskjet Ink Advantage 2134, 2135, 2136, and 2138 All-in-One printers. The following specifications provide information that can help you understand the printer's scanning capability.
  • Bit depth: 24-bit color, 8-bit grayscale (256 levels of gray)
  • Color: 24-bit color, 8-bit grayscale (256 levels of gray)
  • Maximum scan size from scanner glass: 21.6 x 29.7 cm (8.5 x 11.7 in)
  • Output: Black and white or color
  • Scan resolution: 1200 x 1200 pixels per in (ppi) optical
  • Scan speeds: various speeds according to the complexity of the document
  • Twain compliance: Twain-compliant interface (Windows only)

Solution

Set the Scan area in HP Scan to scan the Entire area or select a Scan Page Size that matches the item being scanned.

OR

If your version of the Full Feature Software > HP Scan does not support the "auto detect" option,

If HP Scan Extended can be installed,

Try "Auto Detect" / "Detect Content" (wording varies).  The point is to detect the boundaries of the object being scanned.

Example

This older scan software might work with your Full Feature Software.

What?

You must already have the Full Feature Software installed to use HPSE.

HP Scan Extended

  • Download-Save-Install >  HP Scan Extended
  • HPSE is a subset an older Full Feature Software suite.
  • HPSE features are very similar to the HP Scan Software released after 2015.
  • Although HPSE appears to be a separate software, HPSE is dependent on the infrastructure provided by the Full Feature Software.  The Full Feature Software for your printer should be installed before installing and using HPSE.
  • OPTIONAL:  Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
    • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
    • Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Pin to Taskbar
    • Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Send to Desktop (Create a Shortcut)
    • Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Pin to Start

  • HP Scan Extended features include (and are not limited to): Single, Multiple scans, Image and PDF scans, Email as PDF / JPEG, Source selection, Page Size choices include Auto-Detect (extracts image / document boundary).  Might include OCR (Save as Editable Text).
