Hi @Shay1030,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We’ll be happy to help you get scanning working. To guide you correctly, could you please let us know your printer model and whether you are trying to scan from a computer or a phone?

In the meantime, here are the general steps you can try.

Scan using HP Smart (recommended)

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your device
  2. Make sure your printer is connected and shows Ready
  3. Click on Scan
  4. Choose:
    • Scanner for scanning from the printer
    • Import if scanning from your device
  5. Place the document on the scanner glass or feeder
  6. Click Scan, then save or share the file

If scanning from the printer (if supported)

  • Place the document on the scanner glass
  • Use the Scan button on the printer
  • Select destination (computer or email, if set up)

If the scan option is missing or not working

Try these quick checks:

  • Make sure the printer and device are on the same WiFi network
  • Restart the printer and your device
  • Open HP Smart and ensure the printer status is online

If the scanner is not detected on Windows

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Type services.msc
  3. Restart Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service

Once you share your printer model and where you are scanning from, we can give you exact step-by-step instructions for your setup.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
