We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Hello all

I want to scan and email without starting my laptop.
The printer is connected to the router (Fritzbox 7590) via USB cable and I have my account in Office 365.
In HP Smart/Printer Settings/Advanced Settings/Scanning I have set up an outgoing email profile.
The test keeps failing. Supposedly login information is wrong even though it is correct. I also had a remote session with Microsoft support 2 times, unfortunately unsuccessful.

Do any of you specialists know this problem?

With the request for support and with best regards,
wisch1

Welcome to the HP User Community.

IF you were trying to use a G-Mail account, you might have run into Google's recent change regarding "Less Secure Apps".

In particular, "Less Secure Apps" is no longer supported.

You must switch on 2-Step Verification > create and assign an App Password.

Microsoft is perhaps aware of the change - Google startled a lot of people in spite of their notification on the subject.

That said, Microsoft has no control over what Google does and not every email profile issue is related to this change.

Ignore if not relevant...

Scan to Email – Two-Step Verification and Application Password

Notice from Google

Less secure apps & your Google Account

This video will quickly show you how to set up scan to email with an HP printer with **bleep** AND keep the 2-Step verification security feature. App Passwords

Set up Scan to Email HP Printer with 2 Step Verification on **bleep** and Google

Steps

Log into your Google Account

Open your Google Security Webpage

Next, if not done, Switch ON 2-step verification

Turn on 2-Step Verification

Next, Complete the steps to open your mail security settings

Sign in with App Passwords

and

Create / Select app and (then) create your app password

  • At the bottom, choose Select app and choose the app you using > Select device and choose the device you’re using > Generate.
  • Follow the instructions to enter the App Password. The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device.
  • Tap Done.

Tip: Most of the time, you’ll only have to enter an App Password once per app or device, so don’t worry about memorizing it.

Assign / set that new App Password in your Scan to Email profile as the password.

Save and Test

Update - Edit - Remove / Reduce the extra verbiage

You are welcome.

The email security requirements are dictated by Google for G-Mail addresses.

Scan to Email has not typically supported 2-step verification -

In so much that I am aware, the Scan to Email would be the governing factor in this case.

Scanning anything directly to Email that trips over the email address security would be a likely candidate for the App Password solution,..

All that said, I don't know.

If you cannot get what you want any other way,

Scan content > Save the scanned content >

Open Email > Compose a message > Attach the scanned / saved file  > Send the email

Hello Dragon Fur

I have to come back after all.
I had another call from Microsoft support today. They would like to have my problem solved.
Did I understand you correctly that Scan to Email does not work with Microsoft Office 365?

Best regards,

wisch1

Sorry, if I did so, I did not intend to make such a statement.

If your email address is a **G-Mail** address, you might be tripping over Google security requirements.

If you are using a **G-Mail** address,

Suggestion:

Adjust your email security setup --

For that **G-Mail** address > Switch ON 2-step verification and create / set an App Password.

This recommendation is not the same thing as saying "scan to email not does not work with Microsoft Office 365"

My opinion is worthless - I don't use Microsoft / Office 365.

I must withdraw - I am not helping and we are both confused.  Smiling.
