Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Greetings,

The HP 9015e and HP Smart software has a great feature that allows you to scan directly to your OneDrive/Google Drive/Dropbox accounts directly from the printer.  The problem is all members of my household end up sending their scanned documents to my personal OneDrive/Google Drive/Dropbox accounts which they don't have access to which is needed to retrieve their documents.

Can HP allow multiple shortcuts to be created to specific OneDrive accounts so each user in the household can retrieve their documents?

Unfortunately, not, I think.

HP Smart Shortcuts are nice but fairly limited in scope.

It's because of the way the access works - One HP Account access and one designated account on the device.

What you could do:

  • Create a Shared Folder in the computer on which the content is scanned.
  • Similarly, use the computer's Public users account - create a Shared folder.
  • Similarly, create a Shared folder in your OneDrive - provide the link to each member.
  • Similarly, create a mapped local drive "remote" folder location, for example, in a NAS.  Set destination (directory / folder) as Shared and - for example - add the remote account to group "Everybody" (Everyone).

Instead of using the HP Smart Shortcut method,

Use Save -

When the option is presented to select the destination folder, find and select the Shared destination / folder.

Yes, each family member could have their own shared "folder > sub-folder" - select and save directly into that location.

It's a bit more work - Destination folder(s) must be added / Shared.  If using a Remote destination, you have to know how to set up / map / share / manage the location.

After using Scan > Save a few times, the method to  Find / Select / enter the final Destination becomes more familiar - easier and faster to execute.  No, not perfect.

@Dragon-Fur is likely correct. This type of flexibility is found on larger Enterprise products at this point in time. As with any feature, more flexible configurations are likely to trickle down over time, but HP is not there yet with these products.

Thanks.

Well, as usual, I munged the wording a bit.  Smiling.

As much as I love words, I do occasionally strive for brevity.

More lovely words...

The HP Smart application itself is pretty much "select each option and continue".

So, it's not "just" the app shortcuts that are limited in scope - the application does not (at this writing) support more than a bit of customization sprinkled around in the settings.

In my opinion, HP Smart Windows is a nice application - especially the most recent version - it is just not (yet) as customizable or fully capable as the "full software" options available in Windows and MacOS.

For example...

HP Scan -  part of the Full Feature Software - supports creating "Custom Shortcuts".

You can create a Custom Shortcut in HP Scan that includes a particular "Save to Folder" path in More > Destination - be that destination in the user's account or other "Shared" location.  This "Save to Folder" option includes, of course, selecting a supported (and connected) Cloud storage location.

Need a different - or additional - Destination folder?

Create an additional Custom Shortcut under a different shortcut name and with a different "Save to Folder" path and - optionally - other settings (that are) unique to that shortcut.

Examples - HP Scan - Main Menu > More > Destination
