HP MFP 3301--I set up my shortcuts with several email address.  When I scan and send to emails using the smart shortcuts, the attachment does not come as a pdf.  I comes as a "receipt" in a larger window. I need it to send the scan attachment as a pdf.  Thank you

@djhdeh, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To ensure that your scan attachments are being sent as PDFs rather than "receipts" in a larger window, you will need to check and adjust the settings within the HP Smart app.

Steps to Configure Your Scan Attachments

Open HP Smart App

  • Launch the HP Smart app on your device.
  • Ensure that you are logged in and your printer is selected.

Navigate to Shortcuts

  • Click the Shortcuts tile on the app home screen.
  • From My Shortcuts, select the shortcut you want to edit.

Edit Shortcut Settings

  • Click the Shortcut Settings icon (three vertical dots) next to the shortcut name, and then click Edit.

Set File Type

  • In the Shortcut destination settings, find the section for file saving options.
  • Choose Basic PDF under the file type options to ensure your scan attachments are sent as PDF files.
    • For email and save destinations:
      • Basic PDF: To save the entire scan as one PDF file.
      • Image (.jpg): To save each page as a separate image file.
      • Searchable PDF, Word Document, or Plain Text (HP Smart Advance only): Enables saving files as editable text formats.
  • Make sure to click Save Shortcut.

Run a Shortcut

  • Select the modified shortcut and scan a document.
  • Ensure Quick Run is enabled if you want to skip file editing and preview, or disable it to adjust settings manually before sending. Running a Shortcut

Confirm Email Attachment

  • Once the scan is complete, check the email to ensure the attachment is a PDF rather than a “receipt” or any other format.
