Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Smart Scanner
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I wonder why a scan to flash drive at 300 dpi is only 281 KB and the same document scanned with HP Smart program, same 300 dpi becomes 25,178 KB?  Just asking.  Even if I lowered the dpi to 75 dpi, the file was 1,671 KB.  I like the features of the HP Smart scan because I can manipulate the results, but the resulting size is just not worth it.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • In what file format are you saving the files after the scan?

While using the HP Smart app, once you have chosen the resolution as 300dpi, you will also have an option to select the Compression, set it to Medium or Low.

  • Also, Try saving the scanned files in JPEG format and check the size of the file.
  • To reduce the file size further, try scanning greyscale or Black and white only if required.

Let me know how this goes.

Okay, so I took a typed single page to try all your suggestions.

Sending it to a flash drive to move to my computer = 46KB

Using HP Smart program:

Gray PDF document

300dpi compression low = 1152KB, med = 1158KB, hi = 1165KB

150dpi compression low = 601KB, med = 547KB, hi = 601KB

Gray Photo

300dpi compression med = 1193KB

150dpi compression med = 605KB

Looks like I'm sticking to the flash drive option.

The editing features with HP Smart program I can actually get with another scanner I have - the HP G4050.

Thanks anyway.

  • Is the quality of both saved images on the flash drive and from the HP Smart app the same?
  • As the issue is not resolved, try reinstalling the HP Smart application.
  • Click here to download and know more about HP Smart app
  • Alternatively, you can also use HP Scan and Capture app and check if it meets your requirements.

HP Scan and Capture is a bit better, but still not worth it.

Flashdrive 300dpi = 46KB

Scan and Capture

300di compression

Low = 715KB

Med = 717KB

High = 714KB

The High is almost the same as the flashdrive version.

  • What model printer do you use?

Let us try these steps and check if it helps:

Step 2: Install HP Scan using the HP Full-featured drivers

Click on this link, enter your printer model, go to Software and drivers > select Full featured driver > download and run the same.

Try to Scan.
