Hello Community.

I own an HP Smart Tank 500 all in one printer and I recently (after a year of purchasing) tried making a black and white copy with the button provided on the panel. The printer showed "01" on the panel and scanned the document and hence printing the page.

However, the page is not scanned completely, it leaves out a pretty big portion of the page. Is there anyone else experiencing the same issue?

As seen in the image The one on the right is the original and on the left is the photocopy.

Hi @Nitikk,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP Smart Tank 500 not copying the entire page. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this problem:

  • Clean the scanner glass: Sometimes, dirt or smudges on the scanner glass can interfere with the scanning process and cause portions of the page to be missed. Use a clean, lint-free cloth and a small amount of glass cleaner to gently clean the scanner glass.
  • Check the document placement: Ensure that the document you're trying to copy is placed correctly on the scanner glass. Make sure it's aligned properly with the edges of the glass and that it's not too close to the edges.
  • Adjust the settings: Check the copy settings on your printer to make sure they're configured correctly. You may need to adjust settings such as the paper size, paper type, and copy quality to ensure the entire page is copied correctly.
  • Update the printer firmware: Sometimes, issues with printing or copying can be resolved by updating the firmware on your printer. Check for any available firmware updates for your HP Smart Tank 500 and install them if necessary. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Reset the printer: If none of the above steps work, try resetting your printer to its factory defaults. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues that may be causing the problem.

I never checked the Scan settings thinking it was supposed to be A4 but thanks a lot for your help! The Default scan area was set to B5 and which is why it was happening.

Since my printer does not have margin-less printing I firstly linked it to that, but thanks for your reply!
