Hi @Papi1954,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Smart Tank 7001 All-in-One is suddenly not scanning, even though it's connected to Wi-Fi and printing is working—this usually points to a software or communication issue between the scanner and the computer.
Here’s how to fix it step by step:
1. Restart Everything
- Turn off the printer and unplug it for 30 seconds.
- Restart your laptop.
- Turn the printer back on and wait for it to reconnect to Wi-Fi.
2. Check Connection in HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
- Make sure the printer shows as “Connected”.
- Click “Scan” > try scanning a document.
- If it says, “Scanner not found”, continue to the next step.
3. Re-add the Printer in HP Smart
- In the HP Smart app, click the printer icon > Remove Printer.
- Then click “+ Add Printer” and re-add the HP Smart Tank 7001.
- Once added, try scanning again.
4. Reinstall HP Full Software (Not Just HP Smart)
HP Smart sometimes needs the full printer driver package to support scanning properly.
- Go to the HP Smart Tank 7001 All-in-One Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
- Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver.
- After installation, restart your PC.
- Try scanning again via:
- HP Smart
- Windows Fax and Scan
- Or HP Scan (installed with the full software)
5. Check Windows Services (for advanced users)
Sometimes the Windows WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) service isn't running.
- Press Win + R → type services.msc → press Enter.
- Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
- Make sure it's running and set to Automatic.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
