HP Smart Tank 7602 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just recently purchased an HP Smart Tank 7602 printer with fax capabilities. I am using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a Dell XPS 8910 desktop computer. I have spent the last 5 days trying to get this printer to send and receive faxes and finally have an answer to the issue. What I discovered was that HP's own software was causing the issue. When I first installed the printer software (full package and drivers) the software also included the HP Smart App. The HP website also recommended that I  install the HP EasyStart software, as well, which I did. After trying multiple printer and phone configurations I was not able to get my printer to pass the fax test. I finally contacted HP Support and had a technician reinstall the software and configure the product to at least pass the fax test, but I was still unable to send out or receive any faxes. I have and use 3 different printers, two of which have fax capabilities, namely the HP Smart Tank 7602, the HP Envy 7640 and an HP DeskJet 4100. I also noticed that when I switched printers to print from using Microsoft Office applications (namely MS Excel), the formatting of my documents changed. It wasn't until I uninstalled the HP Smart and HP EasyStart applications, keeping only the basic software and drivers, that all of my issues resolved and I was able to send and receive faxes with no problem. As much as I hate to say this, HP, your software interferes with print functions in MS Excel and printer fax functionality. If anyone else has experienced this same issue, please let me know if this solution works for you, too.
