HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M125 NW
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Having been forcibly ugraded to Windows 10 I now find that I cannot use the scanning facility on the above printer.  When I get the HP Doctor to check everything goes find through the various stages through to Windows and then I am invited to do a test scan - when I select this I get a message saying THE HP LJM 125126 scan was not found.  If I skip this stage and go to next option I find myself back at start.

As a senior trying my very best to stay on top of things I am finding this very very frustrating,

Any help will be appreciated,    Thank You

Hi @Peregrini,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to your scan issue.

I undersatnd that you have upgraded to Windows 10 and since have not been able to scan with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw. I would like to help.

It is definitely a software issue. I would start by uninstalling any printer related software by following the steps in this support document - Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows).

If you get prompted to restart the PC during the uninstall, restart the PC. If you do not get prompted to restart, restart the PC once the uninstall is finished.

Next, I would download and install the Windows 10 version of the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125/126 Series Full Software and Drivers. You can go to the webpage for the download by clicking here.

Once the installation is complete you should be able to scan again. Here is a support document that can be used for reference if needed - Scanning from the Computer with HP Scan (Windows).

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Thank you for your considered helpful response. Subsequent to posting the question here I contacted the HP help line by phone. A man who was very difficult to understand persuaded me to let him have control of the computer to investigate. He went into settings and showed that a number of items listed under Microsoft had stopped. He said I required a driver which would sort everything out and the licence would cost me 107$ (more than I paid for the printer a year ago).

He promised to send an email with the details which he has so far 16 hours later failed to do.
Now I am not sure if I have been chatting to a genuine HP person or not. I am also not sure if he is suggesting it is a HP, Microsoft or computer problem.

Can you please comment on this - thank you

Hi @Peregrini,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have never heard of HP charging for printer drivers or software licences for printer drivers. I think that you may not have been speaking with an HP Representative. There third-paries that will claim to be HP affiliated but really are not.

You can get the HP Tech Support phone number by using the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number

Case number and phone number appear.

I believe I was in the hands of a con merchant - litterly - I had allowed him remote control - so persuasive was he that he was part of HP support. And I thought I was vigilant in these matters,

Thanks again

After looking at all this stuff, I think I have found a solution (temporary or permanent, however you look at it). Of course, this only solves it for Windows users - sorry Apple-ites.

Microsoft has it's own verison of CLJM. Go get it and install it from

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/windows-scan/9wzdncrfj3pv

This allows double-sided scanning from the feeder, etc., etc.

Until HP gets off their duff and fixes their CLJM connectivity issue, this should serve you well. I plan do uninstall my CLJM.

Enjoy world!

How to Get Back the CLJM scanner software: (simple solution)

1) Uninstall the printer/scanner in Windows. (uninstall: 'HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477')

2) From the support site (<click link), download and re-install the "FULL" program and driver. This will re-install the CLJM  utility and put the scanner icon back on your desktop. The file should be the newest 'Full Solution' .exe file

(current version today:  HP_Color_LJ_Pro_MFP_M477-PCL_6_v3_Full_Soln_17171.exe)

This will restore the CLJM utility on your desktop. For me, this also allowed double-sided scanning from my document loader.

This whole issue seems to be on the WIndows side, not the communication issues, stated earlier, between the printer/scanner and the computer.
