On my color Laser HP Printer there is a red vertical line when I scan documents

I understand that you are getting red vertical lines on scanned photos. I'd like to help!

 

May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc

What device are you using the printer with a Windows computer, Mac, Android, or iPhone?
And what is the OS you are currently working on?

Are you scanning through the ADF? If yes then likely you have some debris on the slit glass that the image passes over to be scanned. Even the slightest bit of translucent debris can scatter the light and lead to defects and lines. If you are scanning from the flatbed glass and getting defects then there is probably either a fault with the scanner or dirt under the glass on the optical mechanism.
