Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Does anyone else feel like the scan preview window is too small?  Unfortunately, the scan window for our HP Officejet Pro 8625 does not allow the user to resize or maximize the window.  We have tons of screen real estate, but the HP software only provides a small scan dialog and preview for our scan operations.  This becomes a real issue when cropping or making other modifications to the scanned pages before saving.  Furthermore, it has been a weakness for many years.  Are we missing something, or will we continue needing a magnifying glass to process our HP scans?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

This is one of those rare instances when the "elder" age of the printer is not related to the cause of the issue.

HP Scan, part of the Full Feature Software

At this writing -- HP Scan, and likely the Printer Assistant GUI, do not adjust to very high resolution screens.

Yes, it's unfortunate.

Yes, the current option is to call up the magnifier app.

No, there has not been any indication (thus far) that the Full Feature Software will be rewritten.

Could happen - things do change and sometimes we get what we want.

Scan software and applications that include an adjustable menu and preview size are better equipped to handle a changing environment.

For example, look for a software program / application that includes the traditional "minimize" and "full screen" icons in the top right corner of the menu(s).  Alternatively, some menus can be 'dragged larger' using the lower right corner of the menu / window.

For example, consider using

HP Smart - Windows

HP Scan and Capture

Windows Scan app

Example 1 - HP Smart - Windows -

Scan > Preset Photo > Adjust settings / edges > Optional Edit sets

Example 2 - HP Scan and Capture > Scan Photo > Crop
