I'm trying to change the default folder destination for scans initiated directly from the printer/scanner itself. Currently these scans go to 'Documents' and I want them to go to 'Scans'.

I have been able to change the default destination folder to 'Scans'  when using the HP Smart App, no problem, but the folder destination for jobs initiated by the scanner remains as 'Documents'.

Hi.

You should change the settings from the HP Scan software and not through HP Smart.

 

Search for HP and open your printer software (HP Envy 5540)

Click on Scan and then on Scan a Document or Photo.

Select the required scan shortcut form the list, press More > and select the Destination tab, then change the location and press OK.

Press the save icon near the shortcut name to save the changes, these will then apply for the printer too.

 

Now try scanning using the save shortcut from the printer screen and ensure the save location has changed.

Thanks very much for your prompt reply.
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think this software is installed as I had to get HP's help getting the PC and the Printer to work together recently as I was unable to select colour printing. During the course of the workaround process they removed my 5540 drivers and replaced with those of a different HP printer. Therefore I don't think that I have the printer software that

you are referring to. This is what I see when I click on the HP 5540 icon...
