Hi @Horaldo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Photosmart C4880 is a printer/scanner combination, and scanning to a file is a common feature in most multifunction printers. To scan a document or image to a file using your HP Photosmart C4880, you can follow these general steps.

Ensure Proper Connection:

  • Make sure that your HP Photosmart C4880 is properly connected to your computer. This can be done through a USB cable or a network connection, depending on your setup.

Install HP Software:

  • Ensure that the necessary HP software and drivers are installed on your computer. You can usually find the installation CD that came with your printer, or you can download the latest drivers and software from the HP official website.

Place Document on Scanner:

  • Lift the scanner lid and place the document or image face-down on the scanner glass.

Use the Printer's Control Panel:

  • On the control panel of your HP Photosmart C4880, locate the button or menu option related to scanning. It might be labeled as "Scan," "Scan to PC," or something similar.

Select Scan to File:

  • Look for an option that allows you to scan to a file. This option might be named differently depending on your printer model. If prompted, choose the file format (PDF, JPEG, etc.) for your scanned document.

Choose Scan Settings:

  • Adjust any additional scan settings, such as resolution, color mode, or document type, as needed. These options may vary depending on your printer model.

Initiate the Scan:

  • Press the "Scan" button or select an option to start the scanning process. The printer will scan the document and save it as a file on your computer.

Specify Destination Folder:

  • After scanning, you may be prompted to choose a destination folder on your computer where the scanned file will be saved. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete this step.

View the Scanned File:

  • Open the destination folder you selected to view the scanned file. The file should be saved in the format you specified during the scanning process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
