Envy110 series
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have an Envy 110 series printer and recently I have been unable to scan documents directly from the Printer to Computer or even using the MAC itself. If I go to System Preferences, select Printers and Scanners, I can see the connected Printer, however, the Scan option is no longer available.

I have removed all HP drivers using the HP Uninstaller and reconnected the printer inc all of the necessary drivers, however, this has not moved me any further along.

I then reviewed options on the boards and attempted to access 'Web services' and then 'Scan' by typing in the IP address in Safari. When I attempt to choose 'Scan', I am told that this option has been disabled and I must go to 'Settings' and enable it there, however, it requires a Username and Password to do so. (Message is; To turn on Webscan, from the Settings tab, click Security, click Administrator Settings, select Enable for Webscan, and then click Apply.)

After several attempts, I am locked out and cannot retry for some time. Please can someone help me get past this Username/Password screen so I may enable my scanning.

Many thanks

Mark

Hi,
Please ensure the driers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.

Next, restart your Mac and check for any difference.

May you see any difference?

Additionally, can you successfully make a color copy from the printer front panel?

  • Hi many thanks for your reply. I have checked the drivers on the Mac and I have even used the uninstall option to remove drivers and reinstall them to no additional effect. I can use the printer to print from the Mac or other devices and as you ask, yes I can copy a document directly from the printer and it will print one immediately. It is just the scan option that is no longer available from the Mac. If I try to scan from the printer, I can only do this to a USB memory stick or to a memory card. It is the scan to computer function that I am having issues with.

Previously i I would navigate to system preferences, select printers and scanners and then select the SCAN option. Currently, this SCAN option is no longer shown on the Mac. I hope that helps.

thanks

Hi Marc,

Reboot your Mac and check for any difference.

If the same persists Download and install the latest drivers package below to make sure the latest drivers for your printer are installed:

Many thanks for your continued support. I have tried both of the suggestions you noted in your previous mail including downloading the latest drivers but this has not enabled the Scan function in System preferences/printers and scanners.

I have also opened Web services and again the following is displayed under the Scan tab; "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. To turn on Webscan, from the Settings tab, click Security, click Administrator Settings, select Enable for Webscan, and then click Apply."

When I open the 'Settings' tab, I am presented with a request for 'Username and Password'. The problem is that I don't know what the Username and Password should be so I am stuck there.

Any ideas on how I can get past that, I have tried using 'Admin' etc but nothing works and after several attempts it locks itself.

Regards

Mark

Hi, I wondered if you had time to review my answers and suggest another way forward to unlocking the scan feature?

HP Recommended

Hi Mark,

Webscan have nothing much to do with scanning through the software, this is an alternative method to scan from the printer page.

An administrator password would not be preconfigured unless you or any other user have configured a such.

The user would be admin (all lower case), the password can be any option you may set, such as a commonly used password, your wireless security password which might be used by mistake, etc.)

Please make a Color Copy from the printer screen and make sure that the hardware functions correctly on its own,

Additionally, what happens if you try using the printer by selecting AirPrint within the Use drop-down menu? may you see any difference?

What happens when you try using HP Easy Scan instead? can it detect the scanner or provide any specific error?

Hi, many thanks for you previous reply and apologies for taking a few days to get back to you. I have tried all of the options below and have not moved forward but let me explain what happened;

Colour copy directly from the printer itself works absolutely fine as does scanning using a SD card directly on the printer.

Can you advise where you select Air Print from? I could not see that option nor the 'Use' menu option on the Printer nor within the 'Printers and Scanners' from the System Preferences menu option on my Mac. I have, however, used AirPrint via my iPhone and again this works as expected.

I downloaded the HP Easy Scan software but upon opening it, it does not have any scanners to select from. I have tried the 'Choose HP Scanner' option but again nothing returns any found printers/scanners at all.

Many thanks for your patience on this issue which I am hopeful of resolving with your help.

Regards

Mark

Thanks for the screenshots,

When you open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and click the plus sign, can you see the printer listed as Bonjour type? as from your pictures, I can see it is added using HP Jetdirect Socket which is a TCP/IP protocol, only allows printing from a Mac.

Please reboot your router by unplugging its power for a moment allow it 2-3 minutes to start, as soon as your internet connection returns restart both your printer and the Mac and try adding the printer again, it should be listed as Bonjour.

If the printer is not listed yet, are both the printer and Mac connected to the same router with a good wifi signal?

May you have any additional access points such as a wireless range extender, repeater, etc?
