HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 All-in-One Printer

I am unable to Scan on my computer.   When I use the Scan function, it wants me to log in.  When I go to log in, it encounters Error Code: OW_500_OWSID00001, and tells me to contact Customer Service.  I AM NOT using a VPN, and do not understand why this is happening.  When I try to contact customer service, I am ultimately directed to these forums.

I need to scan these documents ASAP.  They are legal and important.  Please, somebody, get in contact with me.

Hi @neliobelmont ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Follow the steps below-

Uninstall the app from your Windows 10 device through the All Apps list.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Apps & features.

  3. Now, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

    Update the computer

    1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

    2) Check for updates.

    3) If the updates are available, click on Install and restart the computer.

Now, reinstall the HP Smart App and see if that works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
