HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have tried repeatedly to get my HP9135 scan to network folder to work.  This is the sixth or seventh time I am setting up a scan to network folder on a HP Officejet (we have replaced older HP Officejet printers).  I have spent several hours troubleshooting on the phone with HP.  They set me up as a local user as opposed to using my Microsoft account log in.  That provided to be problematic for other services that I was using.  Once I logged back in with my Microsoft account credentials the scan to network folder stopped working.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Have you been successful in fixing it?  Thanks!

Hi @MerMerrick ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing a frustrating issue with setting up the scan-to-network folder feature on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e.

Here are some steps and checks that might help resolve the problem:

1. Verify Network Folder Setup

  • Folder Path: Ensure the network folder path is correctly entered in the HP Smart app or printer settings. It should be in the format \\ServerName\SharedFolder.
  • Permissions: Make sure the folder on the network has the appropriate permissions set for the user account you are using. This account needs read/write access.
  • User Credentials: If you're using your Microsoft account credentials, ensure the folder permissions match those credentials or use a local account with proper permissions.

2. Check Printer Settings

  • Network Configuration: Confirm that the printer is properly connected to the network and has a stable connection.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. HP often releases updates that can fix bugs and improve functionality.
  • Restart Printer and Router: Sometimes, a simple restart of both the printer and your router can resolve network issues.

3. Verify Windows Settings

  • Network Discovery: Ensure that Network Discovery is turned on in Windows. Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings and make sure Network Discovery is enabled.
  • Shared Folder Setup: Ensure the shared folder is correctly set up on your PC. Right-click the folder, select Properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing, and ensure it's shared with the right permissions.
  • Firewall and Antivirus: Check if your firewall or antivirus software is blocking the printer’s access to the network folder. Temporarily disable them to test if they are causing the issue.

4. Reconfigure Scan to Network Folder

  1. Delete Existing Configurations: Remove any previous configurations related to the network folder from the printer's settings.
  2. Recreate Network Folder Entry: Go back through the setup process to create a new network folder entry. Be sure to use the correct network path and credentials.
  3. Test Scan: After setting up, try scanning a document to the network folder to see if it works.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you @GAYA1239!  I followed all of your instructions and it still is not working.  Everything sets up, but it can not be verified in the quick sets setup.  I am using a folder on my One Drive (and I have previously as well).  When I called into HP support, they alluded to it being a conflict with Windows 11.  This is a new desktop computer and new printer.  We have had previous HP printers and have come to depend on the scan to network folder feature.  Hopefully someone will figure out a fix soon!!
