Hi @holsworth5 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're encountering an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 printer when trying to use the scan to email feature. The error message indicating that the username or password is incorrect suggests that there might be a problem with the email account settings stored in the printer's configuration.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  • Verify Email Settings: Double-check the email settings configured on your printer. Make sure that the email address, username, and password are entered correctly. Sometimes, a small typo can cause authentication errors.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues and bugs that might be causing the problem.
  • App Password: If you're using a Gmail or other email service that requires two-factor authentication, make sure you're using an app password specifically generated for the printer. Regular email account passwords might not work due to security settings.
  • Security Settings: Check if any security settings on your email account have changed recently. Some email providers might have stricter security measures that require you to enable access for less secure apps or devices.
  • Restart Printer and Computer: Try restarting both your printer and your computer. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer. If you're using a wireless connection, make sure the Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable.
  • Reset Printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting your printer to its factory defaults. However, be aware that this will erase all custom settings, so you'll need to reconfigure everything afterward.

I hope this helps.
