Using HP Utility, how manually  USB connect HP Scanjet 4850 to old IMAC. Need address. Have no documents

Hi,

The HP Scanjet 4850 scanner was supported on Mountain Lion (10.8) and not supported on any later OS version, it is incompatible with 10.11.

 

You may try the 3rd party Vuescann application which supports your scanner for flatbed scans (but not transparency scans):
