ScanJet Pro 4500 fn1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am trying to solve an issue with this ScanJet Pro 4500 fn1 that I recently purchased. I knowingly bought it in it's current condition in hopes of being able to find a fix for the issue.

There is a 2 inch bar that shows up off center of the scan. This bar shows up on both sides of a scan when scanning both sides through the ADF and its also shows up when scanning on the flatbed.

That thing that throws me for a loop is that the bar appears in the same spot on the upper scanning element for ADF as it does for the lower element. Could it be some sort of logical error, or perhaps a cable is loose inside that is causing the issue? The leds in the lightbars are all lit up fine when it scans, and I doubt the actual image sensor would go bad in the same place on both the top and bottom elements.

Has anyone run into this before? I am willing to try anything out to fix it. I am not shy about taking it apart (although I would be hesitant to take apart the sensors).

Apologies for how the images appear in the post; I tried to get them re-arranged but they would not line up nicely.

Check your warranty status and get your scanner to warranty repair/replacement.

Unfortunately there is no warranty. I bought this used with the known defect. I am just checking to see if anyone had encountered this before and if they found a fix, whether it be software or hardware, to the issue.

Hello,

Did you find a fix ? I have exactly the same issue.

Thanks,

Nicolas

Unfortunately I have not. I pretty much gave up on it. Maybe HP will release a firmware update that will magically fix it, but I won't hold my breath.
