Hi @K_K-1st

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for cleaning the scanner glass already—that’s a great first step. If vertical white lines still appear while scanning, the issue may involve deeper optical or calibration factors.

Let’s walk through a complete set of steps to restore clean, crisp scans.

1. Confirm it’s a scanning issue, not printing

  • Open the HP App on your Windows PC.
  • Print a document directly from your computer.
  • If the print looks fine but scanned copies show vertical white lines, the issue is isolated to the scanner.

2. Clean all scanner surfaces thoroughly

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the scanner lid and gently clean:
    • Main scanner glass
    • Small strip of glass on the left (used for ADF scanning if applicable)
    • Underside of the scanner lid (white backing)
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with glass cleaner. Avoid spraying directly on the glass.

3. Perform a scanner calibration

  • Open the HP App on your Windows PC.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Tools > Scanner Maintenance.
  • Select Calibrate Scanner and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • This helps realign the scanner’s optical sensors and may eliminate persistent lines.

4. Scan using different methods

  • Try scanning from:
    • HP App on Windows
    • Printer control panel (if available)
    • HP App mobile version
  • Compare results. If one method produces cleaner scans, the issue may be software-related.

5. Update printer firmware and HP App

6. Try scanning to a different format

  • In the HP App, scan to PDF and JPEG separately.
  • Check if the white lines appear in both formats. Sometimes compression artifacts can mimic line defects.

7. Reset the printer

  • With the printer powered on, unplug the power cable from the rear.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power on. This clears temporary glitches.

If the issue persists after these steps, it may involve internal scanner optics or sensor alignment. You’ve done a great job already by cleaning the scanner glass—thank you for that effort.

Let’s keep going with these steps and see if we can bring back the smooth, uninterrupted scan quality you expect.
