Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

When I was "forced" to upgrade my Lenovo laptop to Windows 11, the scanner feature on my OfficeJet 8022e would no longer function.  I searched for answers but can't find any.  I am not real savvy on computer software and all that jazz, so I don't know what to do short of buying a new printer/scanner.  Can someone give some simple, easy to understand instructions on what I can do to get my scanner working again?

Hi @Glenn33573,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how frustrating this feels. You upgraded your Lenovo laptop to Windows 11, expecting everything to work smoothly, and now the scanner on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e has gone silent. It’s like reaching for a familiar tool and finding it missing, especially when you need that crisp scan and the soft whir of the printer head moving across the page.

Don’t worry, we’ll bring that back. Here’s the way to fix it:

Step 1: Remove Old HP Software

Those older drivers are like dust in the gears; they can block new features.

  1. On your laptop, click Start → Settings → Apps → Installed Apps.
  2. Find any HP printer software and Uninstall it.

Step 2: Install HP Smart App

This is your new control center for printing and scanning.

  1. Go to HP Smart App Download.
  2. Click Download, then install it.
  3. Open HP Smart and sign in or create an HP account (required for setup).

Step 3: Add Your Printer

  1. Make sure your printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi as your laptop.
  2. In HP Smart, click Add Printer.
  3. Select your OfficeJet Pro 8022e and follow the on-screen steps.
    • Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.
    • Wait for that comforting blue wireless light to glow solid, your printer is back online.

Step 4: Enable Scanning

  • In HP Smart, click Scan.
  • If prompted, install HP Scan Extended, and HP Smart will guide you.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware

  • In HP Smart, go to Printer Settings → Advanced Settings → Firmware Update.
  • Install any updates to ensure full Windows 11 compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
