Wrt to HP 9015 ....

Hi, using HP Scan I am able to scan to an editable PDF document.  However using Paperport that option is is not available.  I prefer to use PaperPort over HP Scan.  I was able to do this with previous HP printers.  Any ideas?

Likely Answer:

In recent months, where HP deemed it needful, the full driver printer software was repackaged without the previously embedded OCR software.

Why was the embedded OCR removed from some software packages for some printers?

No idea -- I have not seen an explanation. 

Possible reasons (not verified) might include:

Compatibility issues, licensing limitations, changes elsewhere in the printer software that required the older embedded OCR to be removed.

What to do?

Possibly...

• Petition PaperPort to add OCR to their scan software
• Purchase / obtain OCR software that will work with your preferred scan software
• If you have not done so, install HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver 

The last is not likely to have any impact of your third party software -- Universal Scan adds the OCR libraries to installed HP Scan software.  Mentioned here as FYI only.
