We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 says - You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer.

I have unplugged from the mains and lead taken out of the printer, but it is not scanning to my PC. Printer working OK.

The only place I've seen that exact error message is when Web Scan is being used but the "first time" setup is not completed to enable the feature.

 

EWS > HP Document / How-to (InkJet Printers – Basic Information)

 Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

 

NOTE: Webscan / Web Scan is not available on Laser printers

 

First Time Use Only – Classic InkJet EWS - Enable Webscan

  • Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
  • Tab Settings > Security > Administrator Settings > Enable >> Check box next to Webscan
  • Click Apply to save any changes

 

Next,

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Webscan

Not the same thing, and generally accompanied by a different error message, the underlying cause might be one or more of the following.

Not all inclusive ...

  • You are using MacOS -- there is no HP full driver, the driver is corrupt, or needs to be reloaded. 

OR

  • The OS is a supported version of Windows, there is a full driver and it is not installed.
  • Windows -- there is a full driver, it is installed, and the Manage Scan to Computer feature is not enabled.
  • Windows - full driver available for your OS, possibly installed, but needs to be reinstalled due to corruption or loss.
  • Windows -- full driver available, installed, OK, but printer needs to be restarted.

Ask if you need help to find, install the full driver printer software.
