HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw

When I scan a document, a previously scanned document from yesterday appears in my network folder that is on the Mac desktop. I reboot the HP 227 and same thing happens. I did a test of the network folder using chrome browser and it is found and passed the test.

Hi @mistergordon,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the scanning settings or cache on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw causing it to save or cache previous scans. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Clear Scan Cache:

  • Sometimes, the printer may cache scanned documents locally. Try accessing the printer's web interface through a web browser (typically by entering the printer's IP address in the browser's address bar). Look for an option to clear the scan cache or temporary files.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Manufacturers often release updates that fix bugs and improve performance, including issues related to scanning and network operations.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Resetting the network settings on the printer can sometimes resolve connectivity and caching issues. This usually involves accessing the printer's menu or web interface to find the network settings reset option.

Reconfigure Scan to Folder Settings:

  • Double-check the settings on the printer for scan to folder. Ensure that it is pointing to the correct network folder on your Mac desktop. Sometimes, re-entering the path to the folder and saving the settings again can resolve issues.

Check for Duplicate Scan Jobs:

  • Ensure that there are no duplicate scan jobs queued on the printer. Sometimes, if a scan job gets stuck or isn't completed properly, it can cause issues with subsequent scans.

Restart Mac and Printer:

  • Try restarting both your Mac and the HP LaserJet printer. This can sometimes clear up temporary glitches in communication between the devices.

Test with Different Settings:

  • Experiment with different scan settings (resolution, file format, etc.) to see if the issue persists across different configurations.

By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing the previously scanned document to appear in your network folder.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
