I understand the auto feed feature of your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer isn't working when scanning, there could be several reasons for this issue. 

 

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

 

  • Check for Paper Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the auto feed mechanism. Even a small piece of torn paper can cause the auto feed to malfunction.
  • Verify Paper Type and Condition: Ensure that you're using the correct type and size of paper for the auto feed. Paper that is too thick, too thin, or curled may not feed properly.
  • Clean the Auto Feed Rollers: Over time, the auto feed rollers can accumulate dust and debris, which can affect their ability to grip the paper. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to gently wipe the rollers clean.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer and install them. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for issues like auto-feed problems.  Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, waiting for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
  • Adjust Paper Guides: Ensure that the paper guides in the auto feed tray are properly aligned with the paper to prevent misfeeds.
  • Check Scanner Settings: Make sure that the scanning settings are configured correctly in the printer's software or on the printer's control panel. Sometimes, incorrect settings can cause the auto feed to malfunction.
