Hi @JAMIE360,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Let's troubleshoot the connection issue between your computer and the HP Laser MFP 135W scanner. Here are some steps to try:

Check Connections:

  • Ensure the USB cable (if using a wired connection) is securely connected to both the scanner and your computer.
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure your scanner and computer are connected to the same network.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your scanner and computer. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Check for Updates:

  • Ensure your macOS and scanner firmware are up to date.
  • Check for any driver updates for your scanner on the HP support website.

Reinstall Scanner Driver:

  • Remove the current scanner driver from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest driver for your HP Laser MFP 135W from the HP support website.

Add Scanner Manually:

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners" on your Mac.
  • Click the "+" button to add a new printer/scanner.
  • Select your HP Laser MFP 135W from the list and follow the on-screen instructions.

HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and try adding the scanner again.
  • Make sure the app is updated to the latest version.

Firewall and Security Settings:

  • Check if your firewall or security software is blocking the scanner connection.
  • Temporarily disable the firewall and see if the scanner connects.

Test with Another Computer:

  • Try connecting the scanner to another computer to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the scanner or the computer.

Network Settings (for Wi-Fi connection):

  • Ensure the scanner is properly connected to the Wi-Fi network.
  • Check the scanner's IP address and ensure it is not conflicting with another device on the network.
  • Use the scanner's control panel to verify network settings and connectivity.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
