HP 5740 e-all in one printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried to scan a document from my printer.  It started the scanning action, but could not complete it.  I got an error message on the printer saying it would not connect.  So then I tried to scan from my computer. I get a message that says the scanner is in use and will not let me scan a new document.  Is there a way to cancel a scan?  I cannot find a queue anywhere that has pending scans. I also tried turning off the printer and restarting it. It still remembers there is a scan in there somewhere.  Side note:  my husband was able to do a scan from his computer to that same printer with no issues at all.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)
The following resource will help you :
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
