HP ENVY Photo 7155
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I click on HP, then scan come up, another dialog box comes up stating HP Envy 7100 cannot be found. It was working for a long time, now disappears.

I was able to print a photo =out f=however. And this after I thought I uninstalled everything. I did that so I could reload scanner driver.

But, not working. Nor is Scan Dr;

Sorry I never got back to everyone. Was in hospital and all kinds of related adventures. Now I have another question:

I had a paper jam, fixed it, and cannot get back together. I pulled the Paper Path cover, and unfortunate two white guides underneath, one smaller than the other. I cannot figure how to get back together (yes, I am all thumbs), and cannot find a schematic or such on HP to figure it.

SAs for the scan issue: I ended up going to HP, and having it escalated. That tech was really helpful. He found that someone was wrong internally, as it would not take a download. So he had me reinstall Windows 10. That worked,

Hi,
Can you try this:

* *Note that if there are other printers installed, these will need to be reinstalled after this.

Step 1. Uninstall the HP Software from your PC. Please follow the steps provided to uninstall the printer software in the link:
Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02259020
Also, please follow the steps provided below to completely remove the printer software from printer properties.
Steps to remove printer driver files from Print Server Properties:

Step 2. Open the Print Server Properties dialog window by doing one of the following:
• Click the Start menu and in the search field type 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click it in the search list.
• Open “Devices and Printers” (not Win10)
• Select any printer and then click "Print server properties" at the top of the window.
• Click on the Drivers tab.
• Click on each printer driver and click on Remove

For Win10:
• Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.
• Click on the Drivers tab.
• Click on each printer driver and click on Remove
• From the Start menu or the Start screen:
• Open “Printers and Scanners”
• Click on each Printer and click “Remove Device”

Step 3. Backup your registry before making any registry changes, the following resource will show you how:
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03485724

Step 4. Update the registry using the Reg file below
Note: this will change some printer related policies for your PC):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/avbv56zdgwv7600/kernel.reg?dl=1

Step 5. Right click the Start menu and select Run. Type Services.msc and press OK.
Locate and stop the Print Spooler service

Step 6. Browse to c:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers.
Rename W32X86 to W32x86.oldRename x64 to x64.old
Note: if any of these folders fail to rename reboot your PC and then continue following the steps starting from Step 5.

Step 7. Restart PC.

Step 8. Finally, reinstall the HP Software.

Hope that helps!

Thank you. I had already tried to uninstall/reinstall but tried again anyway.

It did not work. I could still print, but not scan. Sorry for the delay, but I fell and still feel scrambled.

As I was looking at the reply something caught my eye, so I followed example after going thru Devices, etc.

So far, that worked. No print, no scan. Now I will try to install.

I am glad I do not have a hammer nearby!

As I am reinstalling, I went to check HP when start menu clicked. HP series etc still there. So is HP scan. When I open the Device manager etc, No printer is visible. now it seems that it uninstalls, but then it does not.

But this time when I go to print, there is nothing there except PDF.

And, I do get a dialog install failed, which I forgot to mention before,

Back to my adventure.

Hi @cookiedeacon

Since the FULL featured software didn't work, can you try to HP Smart?

You can get the apps from WIndows Store > search for HP Smart.

You can print and scan using the HP Smart.

Hope that helps!

Just FYI: Still working on it. I got a brilliant idea, why not try Windows Scan. But it can not find a scanner.

Sop today, I am going to start all over again with solutions. As of now, the HP printer, etc does not show up on the Uninstall menu. It is not there. But it prints nicely.

I wish I could find the disc that came with the printer.

[personal information removed per Rules Of Participation] 8:10 PM (1 minute ago)    to HP       Update Saturday 4/27: Not getting anywhere. I just ran HP Smart again (5th time) and it gets to installing Envy 1 of 10, never gets to 2. Comes back installation failed, gives an error message 1726, and goes on to send an error report, and find a solur=tiom, which it never finds. But - it really prints great for not being there!@ Deacon John I  really haven't had it that long. But it keeps saying it is out of warranty.

Hi @cookiedeacon

Try this Standalone Scan software.

HP Scan Extended

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Hope that helps!
