Hi @Frank724,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy Photo 7855 is not showing the scan option in the Print Center on your iMac, and you’re unable to install the scanner update. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

1. Verify Printer Connection

Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to your iMac via Wi-Fi or USB.

If on Wi-Fi, confirm the printer is on the same network as your iMac.

2. Remove and Re-add the Printer

On your Mac, go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Select your Envy Photo 7855 and click the minus (-) button to remove it.

Then click the plus (+) button, wait for the printer to appear, and add it back.

Be sure to select the printer that shows both Print & Scan options, not just AirPrint.

3. Install HP Easy Start / Full Software

Download and install HP Easy Start from 123.hp.com.

Run the setup to install the full printer and scanner drivers for macOS.

Restart your iMac after installation.

4. Use Image Capture / Preview

On your iMac, open Image Capture or Preview > File > Import from Scanner to test scanning.

If the printer is detected there, scanning works but may just need the correct driver in Print Center.

5. Update macOS & Printer Firmware

Ensure your macOS is up to date.

Use the HP Smart app or printer control panel to check for and install firmware updates.

6. Reset Printing System (if needed)

In System Settings > Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose Reset Printing System.

Re-add your printer again and test scanning.

I hope this helps.
