cannot scan c4680

I finally give up, I have tried every solution suggested to install my Hewlett-Packard Photosmart C 4680 on my new computer. It will print but it will not scan. I guess it is time to purchase a new Hewlett-Packard.,

Please check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service to see if it is working properly by doing the following:

1. On the keyboard, press the Windows flag and the R key simultaneously. The Run window opens.
2. Type services.msc and OK. The Services (local) window opens.
3. Double-click on Windows Image Acquisition, then click on the Log On tab.
4. Check Local System Account and Allow the service to interact with the office.
5. Click on the Dependencies tab and check that Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Shell Hardware Detection exist in the first window.
6. Click on the General tab, and restart the service by clicking on Stop, then Start.
7. Close the Services window.
8. Try to scan.

If the Shell hardware detection dependency does not exist, please add it as follows:

1. Simultaneously press the Windows flag and the R key. The Run window opens.
2. Type regedit, then OK. The registry editor opens.
3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Services and select StiSvc.
4. In the right pane double click on Depend on service.
5. You will find RpcSs, just add ShellHWDetection below then click on Enter and OK.
6. Close the registry editor.
7. Try to scan.

Unfortunately, HP no longer provides drivers for this printer.

Please use the HP Photosmart C4600 All-in-One Printer series Full Software and Drivers to install the printer.
Right-click on PS_AIO_05_C4600_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_140_404-4.exe, then on Run as administrator, and then click Yes. Follow the instructions to install your printer.

Concerning HP Solution Center, go to HP Solution Center doesn't open.
To maintenance your printer, please use HP Print and Scan Doctor.

• Use the HPPSdr.exe.

You want to make a shortcut on the Windows desktop of the HP Scan application, do the following:

1. Please go to the following path:
   
   • C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Photosmart C4600 series\bin
2. Right click on HPScan.exe, then click on Show more options, and then on Create shortcut.

Otherwise, try the HP Smart App.
