Hi @marcoschristina,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for contacting HP Support. I understand you’re encountering a "feature not authorized by admin" error when attempting to scan from your HP OfficeJet 8015e All-in-One Printer to your new HP Envy Notebook running Windows 11. While printing works correctly, scan-to-PC functionality is being restricted, and I’ll gladly assist you in resolving this.

1. Check HP Smart App Permissions

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  2. Click your printer’s name at the top of multiple printers are listed.
  3. Select "Printer Settings".
  4. Under Advanced Settings, choose Printer Home Page (EWS) – this opens the Embedded Web Server in your browser.
  5. Go to the Scan tab > Webscan.
    • If Webscan is disabled, enable it, and click Apply.

2. Enable Scan-to-Computer in HP Utility

  1. In the HP Smart app, go to Settings > Scanner Preferences.
  2. Ensure "Scan to Computer" is enabled.
    • If the button says "Enable", click it.
    • If already enabled, try disabling and re-enabling it to refresh permissions.

3. Check Windows Account Permissions

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Accounts > Your Info and confirm that your account is listed as Administrator.
  3. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > App & browser control.
    • Temporarily turn off any App permissions restrictions that might block HP Smart.

4. Restart HP Services (If Needed)

Sometimes Windows services for HP scanning do not auto-start:

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down to:
    • HP Network Device Support
    • HP Scanner Service
  3. Make sure both are set to Automatic and Running.
    • Right-click > Start (if stopped)
    • Right-click > Properties > Startup Type: Automatic

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
