cannot scan

hp office jet 5258. installed outlook in my win live mail. re downloaded recommened software 3 times.  still shows hp scan app cannot find an email app installed on computer. cannot scan to computer or any shortcuts.  have gmail, win live mail, outlook, and outlook .com.  online agent is of no help at all

I suspect you are trying to scan to email.

You need to add your gmail / email address to an email client installed on the computer.

Installed Outlook (not the one you access via the web) might work.

Thunderbird client (mozilla) works.

If you were running Windows 10, you would add the email address to Windows Mail.
