HP Envy 7855
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased the HP Envy Photo 8755 printer about a week ago.  I did some scans then noticed that the orange was dark red, purple was a light black dark yellow was ok and blue was a little darker.  I initally thought that I had adjusted the colors during the scan to be too dark, thinking it may be my laptop monitor.  I re-did the scan using one strip of each of the colors mentioned making them lighter and the colors were still off.  I then did a copy to see if it was my computer and the copy turned out just like the scan.  QUESTION:  How can I adjust the colors (C M Y) to produce the correct colors?  I have printed a diagnostic page and even did the clean cartridges twice.  Under "customize your printer" > color management > devices, the scanner has sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (default) for ICC Profile.  The printer has nothing listed for profile.  (FYI - my laptop shows the colors the same as the printed copy, so the monitor should not be the problem).  I hope someone can help me.  Thanks!

Hi @jdbisch,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing issues with your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer wherein the copy colors are not correct.

This issue could occur if the scanner is defective.

Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.

I suggest that you follow the step by step guide listed below to reset the printer:

1.Disconnect if there is any fax or USB cable connected to the unit and then turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

2.With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

3.Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

4.Wait at least 60 seconds.

5.Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

6.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

7.Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period.
8.Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Also, I suggest that clean the scanner glass and check.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you contact HP Technical Phone Support from this link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP

Select the country where you are located and type the product# or the serial number of the unit and then choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information. Click on 'Show Options' icon and then scroll down the page and select 'Get Phone Number' to get the phone number.

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.

I did the unplug/plug back in to reset the printer.  That was not the solution!

I finally fouund/stumbled upon the scan setting for ppi which was factory set to 200.  I know the old HP Photosmart printer was scanning at 300.  So I changed the ppi to 300 AND changed the "color mode" to auto detect instead of the factory set of 24 bit RGB and it improved the color a lot.  At least the orange was orange although the purple still had to be tweeked some with the brightness and mid-tone settings.

Hi @jdbisch,

I see that the color quality has improved after changing the scan resolution and the color mode.

I also appreciate your time and patience.

Feel free to ask your queries in future in this forum and we will always be there to help you.
