Printer works OK along with FAX from printerpanel. But when I use HP send FAX I get "unable to communicate with device error" I downloaded the latest software. No luck!

Installed and HP Scan Extended, but FAX reports same error. I should restate my issue. Scanner/printer works fine. Also can FAX from printer, but when I run HP send FAX I get the error. Printer passes all self tests.

Change the Error Correction Mode setting

  • Error Correction Mode (ECM) prevents loss of data due to poor phone lines by detecting errors that occur during transmission and automatically requesting retransmission of the erroneous portion. Phone charges are unaffected, or might even be reduced, on good phone lines. Depending on the age and quality of the phone lines, ECM can improve fax quality or cause data loss. The default setting is On.
  • To turn change the ECM setting, open the fax menu, select Basic Fax Settings, Advanced Fax Settings, or Preferences, select Error Correction Mode, then select On or Off.

That's not the issue I'm having. Recap... I can send and recieve FAX without issues from the printer/FAX, but can't with the "HP SEND FAX" app.. I'm using latestest version of WINdows 10. BTW phone lines/cable are new now wer're using Xfinity service.

Could you please send the screenshot of the error message and the application which you are using to send the fax?

This might require remote access of your computer to fix this issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on "Continue as guest".

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
