I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer to your Windows 11 laptop for scanning. Let's walk through the steps to get your scanner working again.

Check Printer Connection

Make sure your printer is properly connected to your laptop:

  • USB: Ensure the cable is securely connected.
  • Wi-Fi: Ensure both the printer and laptop are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Install/Update HP Smart App

The HP Smart app is essential for scanning and managing your printer.

Set the Scanner as Default

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your printer > Set as default
  • Right-click again > Start Scan to test

Use Windows Scan App (Optional)

  • Open the Scan app from the Start menu
  • Select your printer and try scanning

Reinstall Printer Drivers (if needed)

This is not helpful.  As I explained, my laptop has no problem finding the printer and I can print, but it will not allow me to scan.  I get a communication error.  I can scan on other devices, but not on the HP printer. I've rebooted, turned off/on, deleted and reinstalled drivers.  Nothing works.  I've seen that others have this same problem.  This only started happening in the past few months.  Please do not give me solutions from your playbook.
