Hi @Don2086,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Ensure Genuine HP Ink Cartridges are Installed

Make certain that the ink cartridges are genuine HP supplies. Non-HP or refilled cartridges may cause quality issues. You can verify the authenticity at the HP anti-counterfeit webpage.

Check Print Settings

It's important to ensure that your print settings match the type of document you are printing. Refer to the software used for printing and adjust settings as necessary, such as paper type, print quality, and others.

Check Estimated Ink Levels

Verify the ink levels on your printer. A low ink cartridge might still work in 'backup mode', resulting in diminished print quality. You can check the ink levels from the control panel by swiping down and selecting the Ink Level Indicator icon.

Replace Any Low or Empty Cartridges

If ink levels are critically low or if cartridges are empty, replace them with new cartridges. Ensure the ink cartridge access door is securely closed after replacement.

Clean the Printhead

If the printhead is clogged, it might require cleaning to restore print quality. Use the automated cleaning tool available from the printer's control panel:

  1. Swipe down to open the Dashboard and touch the Setup icon.
  2. Select Printer Maintenance and tap Clean Printhead.
  3. Follow the prompts to complete the cleaning cycle. Repeat, if necessary.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.
  2. On the printer control panel, swipe down, touch the Setup icon, and select Reports.
  3. Print a Quality Diagnostic Page and check for symptoms such as streaks or smudges.

I hope this helps.
